Sydney + Jacob's Calvert City Wedding
From the Bride: Jacob and I met nine years ago at Bellarmine University during our time at the Governor's Scholar Program. We were 16 years old. Years later, we rekindled our relationship. Jacob asked me to marry him on Bellarmine’s campus in the same spot we met so many years ago.
On August 22nd, 2020, I married the love of my life in the most beautiful place surrounded by our incredible friends and family. Planning a wedding during a pandemic isn’t easy, but I couldn’t imagine a better day. It was beyond beautiful. We were married at a childhood family friend's lake house on Kentucky Lake. I had grown-up coming to this lake house so many summers as a child. Jacob and I both love swimming, boating, and the outdoors so we knew that a lake wedding was a must. My brother and sister-in-law designed our dream wedding from event coordinating, filming, and being a part of our wedding party (peep the picture of Brooke holding her camera in her bridesmaid dress). We are truly blessed with so many talented family, friends, and vendors that helped make our wedding so perfect and unique.
We wanted our wedding to be very personal to us and our guests. One of our favorite memories was writing notes to each other before our first look. Each note included what we love about the other person and what we are looking forward to after being married. We still have both of our wedding letters framed in our bedroom. We had our ceremony overlooking Kentucky Lake surrounded by flowers, greenery, and our focal point “The Wooden Cross”. My grandfather had made this wooden cross for his church many years ago. Even though my grandfather passed away, it was so important to include him in our wedding day. After a short rain delay, God provided us with a perfect rainbow backdrop during our lakeside ceremony that lasted almost through our I Do’s. After our ceremony, our guests enjoyed shooting off wedding confetti biodegradable dried petals that made us smile even bigger! Our reception was held in the same location with a view of Kentucky Lake on all sides. All of the guests signed our custom made anchor as our guest book. We served dinner from J Mack’s BBQ (the groom’s favorite) and local wine from Purple Toad Winery. The strings of lights and candles helped illuminate the area and created a more intimate reception. Everyone danced the night away with many country and pop songs including the bride’s favorite Maroon 5 “Sugar” during the cake cutting. We sent our guests home with Simply Sweet lake themed cookies (my best bite all day) as their wedding favors to remember our special day. We had a sparkler send off to conclude our magical night as we left for our honeymoon.
