Sarah + Evan's Berea Wedding

From the Bride: Only in fiction do you expect high school sweethearts to fall in love, stay in love, and end up together. Evan and I have loved each other since we were 15 and 16 years old, so we knew our wedding day would consist of an array of emotions. The details we included were not only dreamy but sentimental. First, we included two white doves that were originally on the Bride's parent's wedding cake in 1987, 35 years ago. These doves represent family, love, and hold so many stories and it meant so much having them throughout our wedding. A small family-owned business from our hometown made our delicious wedding cake. Our cake had two flavors; the first was classic wedding cake with almond buttercream filling. The second flavor was a strawberry cake with a fresh strawberry puree filling, and both were topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting. We also served our guests two cookie options: an iced lemon cookie and a lavender shortbread. Also, we had an elegant Waterford Ice Vase Sculpture with a scripted "B" for "Brock" in the center, hand-made by the Lexington artist Matthew Stoddart. Lastly, and our favorite, when I was planning our wedding, I knew exactly who I wanted to be my flower girl. I chose Ollie Turner, my 87-year-old grandmother to be my flower girl. What a legacy Mamaw has given us, and I wanted that strong, faithful women to lead me down the aisle. She gladly accepted and responded, "only if I can wear my high heels!" We danced our first dance to "I Am Yours" by Andy Grammer. We included our dog, Rosie, on a cocktail napkin that read, "Cheers from Rosie!" with a photo of her smiling. We adopted Rosie during the COVID pandemic, and she immediately became family. Having her a part of our day made everyone happy. Evan and I can't thank our family, friends, and vendors enough for their fantastic support during this time. It is a day we will never forget.

Bride’s Advice: My general advice is to reach out and seek help from others. Wedding planning is a huge responsibility and can be a very daunting task. Plus, doing it with others makes the experience so much fun! My biggest help was my wedding planner, Stacia Powers. The wedding planning process for my mother and me was so enjoyable, and I encourage other brides to understand you don't have to do it all alone. Maybe a wedding planner isn't in your budget, but your biggest supporters are only a phone call away!
