Mechael + Calvin's Louisville Meeting

From the Bride: No wedding wants to talk about rain especially an outdoor wedding, you envision a sunny beautiful day but only one person gets to decide the weather on your wedding day. As we were getting ready with our wedding parties around 3PM the clouds began to shadow over the Waterfront Botanical Gardens and it begins to drizzle making me very anxious. The wedding ended up starting just about on time at 5:30PM. As guests began to raise their umbrellas, the grandparents and parents, began coming down the aisle, the sprinkles continued. The groom came down the aisle with so much energy and light guests forgot it was even raining. Once it was time for me to come down the aisle, the clouds shifted and the sun began to peek around those clouds and the ceremony went on without a hitch.

Once we all returned from taking amazing pictures on the Big Four Bridge, the sun was completely out and the sunny beautiful day any bride would imagine had come true. As we entered into the reception hall to enjoy dinner, the energy in the room was electrifying! The groom is originally from the Island of St Croix, The United States Virgin Island (USVI), and we wanted to bring the islands to Louisville, so we provided each guest with a bandana with the USVI flag on it and as we walked in every wedding guest was twirling their flag welcoming the bride and groom into the reception. We went directly into our first dance, it felt like we were the only two people in the room. We danced to “Why I Love You” by Major. We thanked our guests for coming and supporting us, ate, then headed outside to capture the last bit of sunset to finish off our pictures.

After dinner and cake (flavor was Banana Hummingbird), the party transitioned back outside. With a combination of hiphop, R&B, soca Caribbean music, and libation of course our guest were on their feet ALL night. We enjoyed the interactive photobooth and 360 photobooth from "Photobooth Classics", a friend of the groom who drove from New Jersey to make sure our day was perfect. The Best Man and Maid of Honor both wowed the guest with their heartfelt speeches which ended with a champagne shower and a firework show. As we transitioned to leave the venue we had the DJ play "Last Last" by Burna Boy. The guest escorted us to our get away vehicle which was a bright Orange Suzuki Boulevard C50 motorcycle. Our guest lit up sparklers and I hopped on the back, the groom revved the motorcycle and we drove off to our forever.

Bride’s Advice: I would say with the wedding industry booming right now, get your vendors as early as possible. They are the the glue to your special day. I would also say for my ladies, make sure you allot enough time for hair and makeup or make sure those vendor have enough help to cover everyone that needs hair and makeup. This can really put you behind schedule if they are not fully prepared.
