Lucy and Rob's Versailles Wedding

From the Bride: The location of our wedding ceremony and reception couldn’t have been more perfect! Not only was it simple for the guests with everything being at one spot but it was also the roots of our love story! The Galerie used to be Versailles United Methodist Church which is where my husband, Rob, grew up attending church. I, Lucy, grew up in Houston, TX but would spend my summers out in the countryside of Versailles. While here in the summers, my family attended Versailles United Methodist church as well which is also where my mom grew up going to church! As a kid, I attended Vacation Bible School and met Kathlyn Fisher, Rob’s sister. We quickly became friends and our friendship continues to strengthen over the years. Through play dates and church youth group, Rob and I saw each other from afar but never talked to each other. Fast forward many years to 2020, Rob and I reconnected and started dating. The rest is history! It was full circle and sentimental getting to say “I do” in what used to be the church we have so many memories in. Another exciting and unique part of our wedding was that it snowed about 5 inches the night before… in March! Of course the weekend before was sunny and 70! We wouldn’t have changed a thing. I was able to start the day of our wedding on a snowy walk to the horses on my families farm. What a dream seeing the hills blanketed with snow! Lastly, I loved having all of our guests sit at long tables lined with candles and greenery. All throughout wedding planning, I knew that was in my vision! I loved everyone being able to sit down at the same time, enjoy dinner and the company around them! We had assigned seating and dinner was served to the guests. One of the most frequent comments I’ve heard from the guests was how much they loved dinner! They loved talking to the people around them and the candles/greenery added a classic and intimate vibe. Our first dance song was “Junction City Queen” by Tyler Childers (it’s about a long distance relationship which we had to do for a year!)

Bride’s Advice: Don’t worry about the weather!! No matter what happens (freezing cold, snow & ice for us!) you will get married and it will be the best day ever!
