Katy + Colin's Covington Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding day was so much fun and special for both of us - it honestly went by so fast! (I guess time flies when you're having fun, right?) My vision was a soft romantic style with a "cappuccino" color scheme. Everything complimented each other so well from the decor to the florals. If I had to choose a favorite flower it would have to be the coffee-colored roses because the color was so beautiful and went with our theme so well. Dahlia is my favorite flower, although so that was also a close second. I also loved that my florist incorporated a piece of lace that my grandmother saved for me from her wedding dress. It was my something "something old" and added a very sentimental piece to my day. The day just seemed to flow together starting from the rehearsal dinner the night before to sweating it out on the dance floor.
We had our rehearsal dinner at The Montgomery Inn Boathouse on the River, which was intimate and cheerful. Afterwards, my bridesmaids stayed the night with me at Hotel Covington, where I booked a suite for us to get ready together for the wedding. We popped some bubbly and had a fun little sleepover that carried into the next morning which was my wedding day! Colin and I did a first look by Hotel Covington on a cute little historic street (which also fit with my soft romantic vision.) I remember being so anxious to see him! I couldn't wait! He told me I was absolutely beautiful, of course, but was most of all impressed that my wedding dress had pockets LOL. After taking portraits in the historic district next to the river, it was off to the church!
The Cathedral was absolutely breathtaking, and we were actually married by the Bishop who confirmed us both in 8th grade which was special. The music was also beautiful, and the ceremony will be forever memorable for the rest of our lives. Before we knew it, we were about to make our entrance at our Reception! Our first dance wasn't exactly how we practiced from our lessons, since we both drew a blank on our routine once we made it to the dance floor, but it was so much fun and intimate that it didn't matter! We cut our cake, which also included Colin doing the cliche cake face smashing and toasted with everyone celebrating our love. My favorite part of the reception were the tea napkins that we had customized with our dog! We have a golden retriever named Charli, that we view as our child - we just love her! It was a nice little way to include her on our special day since she wasn't able to physically be there. (Don't worry she was included in the engagement pictures.)
We danced our first dance to “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. The night ended on the dance floor - the band was so great! They even had sombreros and did a Conga line throughout the reception hall. Everyone was dancing - even my great uncle who is 105 years old! I didn't want the reception to end but when we got to our suite at Hotel Covington, they had rose petals all over the room with a bottle of champagne waiting for us. It was the perfect end to our wedding day, getting to celebrate and make a final toast with my new husband with our own personalized champagne flutes!
Bride’s Advice: To enjoy the engagement and planning period. We were engaged for roughly a year, maybe a little longer, and it went by so fast! Planning and wedding prepping is so much fun, that I wish someone would have told me to take it all in. My favorite part was probably the lessons we took for our first dance (even though when it came time to do the first dance, I was so nervous I forgot half of it LOL. Our instructor was so fun and talented. The lessons were a way for us to spend some time together learning something new, which made us feel closer before our wedding day.
