Kaitlyn + Jacob's Ironwood Wedding
From the Bride: For starters, I think it’s important to say that we did all of the planning ourselves. We are very proud that we were able to work together and plan such a wonderful celebration. We think our venue choice was very special and made it feel like a true Kentucky wedding. The main reason we selected it over others was that we were able to stay on the property and host our rehearsal dinner at their farm house.
We offered an open bar that featured some of our favorite local spirits. Such as Castle and Key gin, wines from two Kentucky wineries, and of course Kentucky bourbon. We had a his and hers signature cocktail. Hers was a lavender gin sour and his was a cinnamon old fashion. The passed hors d’oeuvres and plated dinner were very delicious. We had a mix of cake and pies. We offered blueberry with lemon cake, salted Carmel cake, chocolate banana cream pie, and apple pie.
A guest favorite was our photo booth. Having our dog a part of the ceremony meant a lot to Kaitlyn, Bear has been in her life for over a decade.
There were a few stressful moments that looking back made the day a little more special and was kind of funny. Like when Jacob opened his tie it was a different color than the groomsmen (they were all supposed to be green). But luckily it ended up being our other wedding color and worked out great.
Our favorite moment was after all the guests left for the evening, we stayed at the barn for a couple more hours. We had some more drinks and ate some leftover cake. It was the perfect moment to soak in all of the love and hard work that went into our wedding day.
Bride’s Advice: We wish that someone would have reminded us to slow down and enjoy the planning process. It can be stressful but there is a lot to savor.
