Ellen + Austin's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: We wanted a romantic wedding and as soon as we saw the rotunda in Limestone Hall we knew that was where our ceremony would be. We also loved the industrial feel of the east and west rooms. Our florist and coordinator both suggested putting a unique twist on floral centerpieces by hanging them from the ceiling above some of the tables. They were gorgeous and fit the space perfectly.

We both grew up in Kentucky and met at UK. We love it here, and since our venue was the Historic Lexington Courthouse, we decided to include other hints of Kentucky throughout our day. Before the ceremony we took pictures in Gratz park and the garden of the Hunt-Morgan house (Hopemont).

Our first dance was to “I Do” by Aloe Blacc. We served mini hot browns during cocktail hour, one of our signature drinks was a Woodford Reserve Arnold Palmer, one of our cupcake flavors was bourbon chocolate chip, and instead of a book our guests signed a personalized bourbon barrel head. One of my favorite details was the bar menu with a picture of our dog Zeke. Since he couldn’t actually come to Limestone Hall we decided to name the bar after him. A family friend gifted us a painted champagne bottle from Mad Champagne which was perfect for our cake table next to the champagne flutes that my parents used at their wedding. Another special detail was the ring from my in-laws for my something blue. I tied it to my bouquet with a piece of the dress my Nana wore to my parents wedding as my something old.

Bride’s Advice: Be flexible. Things will change throughout the planning process and you won’t always end up with what you expected, but it will all come together in the end. Be patient and just enjoy the process.
