Claire + William's Spindletop Wedding

From the Bride: It was incredibly important to me that our wedding truly reflected who William and I are, our love for each other, and our families. From the soft pink peonies in my bouquet to honor my beautiful mother, who so gracefully continues her fight with stage 4 breast cancer, to the single red rose in my cousins’ bridesmaids’ bouquets that honored my Aunt Holly, who unexpectedly passed away five months prior. William wore his father’s cummerbund that he wore in his wedding, and I wore my grandmother’s sapphire ring. We had a table with photos of all the love before us, wedding photos of our families - representing our families becoming one. It’s so easy to get distracted by the trends during wedding planning and I often found myself confused and unable to make decisions in the ever changing industry. Eventually, I realized the decisions were so difficult for me because none of what I was looking at was what I truly wanted. I wanted my wedding to be timeless, classic, chic, and to never go out of style, all with a modern flair - I think that makes it unique. Spindletop was beyond perfect for my vision, with its old architecture and breathtaking interior, many of my guests said they felt like that were at a Bridgerton ball. My dress was a sustainably made organic cotton ball gown and the bridal party kept it traditional with matching black gowns and tuxes. Our ceremony was simple and romantic with the string quartet playing the original bridal chorus for me to walk down the aisle to, and to keep things personal and fun, our wedding party walked to the Jurassic Park theme song - which was absolutely gorgeous and so fun for the guests who caught on. Everywhere you looked in the reception there were romantic stacks of candles and and a sea of white flowers. I wanted our wedding to be lively and never to lull, so I did away with the formal sit-down dinner and opted for all cocktail style. We had an elaborate charcuterie table, passed signature cocktails and delicious bites, with a string quartet playing elegant music. Our wedding cake was a vintage designed vanilla buttercream with strawberry cake. It had “Just Married” written atop with my grandmother and grandfather’s wedding cake topper, that still had icing on it from 1964. There was a vintage phone at our welcome table that our guests left messages on all night long and photos of William and I from over the last seven years of us dating. Our first dance was to “It’s All In The Game” by Tommy Edwards. It was William’s late grandfather’s favorite song that held so much meaning to him. It was a special moment for us, and our family. Our dance floor was lit with big light up “Mr. & Mrs. Reedy” block letters and that’s when the DJ started and we danced the night away to a curated playlist that kept the party going way too late!

Bride’s Advice: The rain was relentless on my wedding day. I’m talking thunderstorms and all red radar with no end in sight. I let it distract me most of my wedding morning. I cried while getting my makeup done! But by the grace of God, an hour before our ceremony, the sun came out and shined brighter than ever. It was truly a miracle. And look, all the anguish for nothing! Ultimately, you can plan your life away and envision this perfectly, flawless day - but that’s not how life goes. My advice is that on your wedding day, stop the planning, stop the stressing, and simply be the bride. Be present with your girls, get excited to see your groom, trust that everything will work out - go into it knowing it won’t be perfect, but it’ll be your wedding and for that, it’s all you need. You can’t control everything, and at the end of the day you’re marrying the love of your life…rain or shine.
