Briana + Joel's South Carolina Wedding
From the Bride: A destination wedding was always an option, but it became more enticing after having to reschedule our wedding multiple times due to the pandemic. We opted for a small wedding with some of our closest family and friends.
At the beginning of wedding planning, I took to grandparent’s wedding album for inspiration. My grandpa and his groomsmen wore white dinner jackets, black pants, and black bowties. I thought this was such a classic and timeless look and decided we should recreate it! It was the perfect way to include them in our wedding. They have been married for 57 years and are such an inspiration to us!
We wanted to bring a piece of Kentucky with us and did just that by using a wooden state cut out as our guest book! It was a huge hit, and all our guests loved the idea. We can’t wait to have it on display in our home. For reception entertainment, we wanted something unique, so we decided on a caricature artist! It was so much fun – guests of all ages enjoying taking part in having their portraits drawn. We even had the artist draw group portraits of our bridal party to have them framed and hung in our home.
One of my fondest memories of my wedding day was being walked down the aisle by my grandpa. I had been waiting for that walk my entire life and it was the best one I have taken yet! The smell of the ocean filled the air during our ceremony. This mixed with the after smell of fresh rain just gave a clean scent to everything. It rained right up until it was time to walk down the aisle, and all of the sudden the skies were clear and it was the most beautiful day! I loved seeing my soon-to-be husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle under the most beautiful palm trees surrounded by our closest family and friends. My husband’s most memorable sight was seeing me walk down the aisle. My favorite sound was hearing us say “I DO” with the ocean in the background, and hearing us announced as Mr. and Mrs. Williams for the first time.
The best bite of the day was from our wedding cake! We had a 3-tier cake with 3 incredible different flavors. Cookie dough, strawberry cake, and funfetti! The strawberry cake with lemon cream and fresh strawberries was the BEST – it was perfect for a summer wedding! We plan to take anniversary trips there just to eat the cake again!
