Amelia + Clay's Southern Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding day was long-awaited. When Clay and I first laid eyes on each other at 8 years old, our story began. We were childhood crushes and high school sweethearts. We have been through so much together - good and bad. Our wedding day was the culmination of a beautiful and sometimes difficult love story. Our first look left us overwhelmed by love and excitement, I wasn't used to seeing Clay cry so it was a really sweet and intimate moment. Our ceremony was perfect. After walking me down the aisle, my dad officiated the ceremony with grace as he affirmed both Clay and I’s strengths, gave God the glory, and sent us off with a beautiful blessing.
Our venue was a dream come true - a gorgeous piece of land with green as far as the eye can see, horses roaming the fields, beautiful European-inspired antique doors and details, and not to mention enough room for all of our closest family and friends. The soft pastel dresses, florals and twinkly lights made our wedding day seem like a fairytale. I wanted our wedding to be sweet & intimate, leaving everyone with a little taste of what heaven may be like. The BBQ was perfect for a warm July night and the cookie sandwiches were too mouth-watering!
My favorite moment was when we walked through the doors as husband and wife, we hugged each other and both started crying out of joy and relief that we were finally married! We had a brief intimate moment before our wedding party joined us with teary-eyed smiles on their faces. It felt like heaven in a moment.
Clay’s favorite moment was when the doors opened for me to walk down the aisle to him. He felt like the whole world stopped for a moment. He was hit with that “this is actually happening” feeling and was overcome with peace.
There were some of my favorite details: Something Borrowed: My sister’s veil / Something Blue: A heart from Clay’s little brother's shirt sewn into my dress (He passed away last summer) / Sixpence in my shoe: from Clay’s great grandmother / Maid of honor and groomsmen sang while we took communion / All four of my nieces were flower girls: one was pulled in a wagon / 12 bridesmaids & 12 groomsmen (I know, CRAZY) / We left in a red Corvette - true Bowling Green fashion!
