Meghan + Jacob's Crestwood Wedding

From the bride: For our December wedding, we opted for a winter woodland theme. We wanted guests to walk in and feel that it was a romantic winter wedding, but also not have Christmas in their faces. Due to Covid, we had to change venues with three weeks notice and cut the guest list. We stumbled upon the 132-year old Waldeck Mansion, and it was even better suited for the romantic winter feeling we were trying to bring to life. It had elegance, beauty, history and tons of character! It’s truly breathtaking, especially on a 65 degree sunny December day! The boys even got a round of disc golf in (groom’s favorite hobby) before the wedding since the weather was so nice!

For the center pieces, my mother-in-law handmade all the winter wreaths. We used DIY wood rounds cut from their trees in their backyard as part of the table decor, as well as pine branches and pine cones from their trees as well. They looked stunning and saved costs! Vases filled with real cherries added to the winter theme. It was dark out by the time the reception started, so candles incorporated anywhere and everywhere gave the venue a romantic and intimate feel. Other DIY projects included my arch for the ceremony, which my dad built and stained for me! My husband, maid of honor and I also spent hours making homemade white chocolate peppermint bark bars for every table setting, which were pretty delicious. And the wedding cake was a beautiful sight on top of an old piano at the entrance!

We also opted out of traditional green or red for the wedding party colors and decided to go with cool blue and taupe tones instead. The bridesmaids each had a different dress and four different colors. We loved the way the blue contrasted with the red in the decorations and flowers. A unique feature in my bridal bouquet that was a must-have for me was the red hanging amaranthus, which was so beautiful and set it apart from the rest of the flowers. It came together perfectly. Despite all the last-minute obstacles that so many 2020 brides are familiar with, the day could not have been better!
