Caitlyn + Ben's Winchester Wedding

From the Bride: As native Kentuckians currently living in Virginia, we were so excited to come back to our old Kentucky home for our big day. We tried to incorporate as much Kentucky into our wedding as possible—from the mint julep floral arrangements at the church to our bourbon and Ale-8 signature drink at the reception. It was important to us to use as many local vendors as possible and we were so excited to have my hometown’s gorgeous Moundale Manor’s antebellum architecture as the background for most of our photos. My bridesmaids wore floral print dresses, perfect for a spring wedding in April—despite predictions of “winter-like weather”, the rain held off and we were able to get some beautiful photos outside.

Our reception was filled with soft pinks and gold touches (including antique candlesticks that my mom spent months collecting!) along with greenery accents—my favorite being a gorgeous flower wall that our guest’s loved taking pictures in front of. Our photographer was able to capture a group picture of the 250+ friends and family members that were there to share in our special day with us. It is a rare thing to have all your loved ones in the same room at the same time, and we are so grateful to have that memory to look back on.

Bride’s favorite moment: Ben has been writing letters throughout our relationship—from our first anniversary to our engagement—so I knew this one would be special. We exchanged letters prior to the ceremony and it really allowed time to focus on just us despite all of the pomp and circumstance of the big day. It is so nice to have a physical copy to cherish forever.

Groom’s favorite moment: Almost every groom says this, but there is nothing quite like seeing your bride walk down the aisle. Even though we did a first look prior to the ceremony, she took my breath away when the church doors opened.
