Jaclyn and Aaron's Mustard Seed Hill Wedding
From the bride: One thing I knew when planning my wedding is that I didn’t want to do a first look. I know that is not the popular thing to do now, but I think it just made everything that much more intimate and sweet! If I did have any nerves walking towards the ceremony, they were all completely washed away when I saw Aaron waiting for me at the end of the aisle. Seeing his face when he first saw me invoked the most joyous feeling! We can both agree that was our favorite moment of the day, and the best moment of our lives! Instead of lighting a candle, or pouring sand, etc., Aaron and I decided to take communion together as our symbol of unity. We wanted this to be our first act as husband and wife as we have placed Christ at the center of our relationship from the beginning. We also didn’t use a wedding planner, nearly all our vendors were family and friends, and all decorations and details were DIY (I actually did all the decorating the morning of the wedding)! One of my favorite details were the anniversary cards I placed on every table. We asked that the guests at each table sign or write words of encouragement or advice in the cards, and we will open one card on each anniversary! I think it’s important to for brides to know they can, with the help of amazing family and friends, have a beautiful wedding on a budget. I was never really the type to dream or plan of my wedding day, neither of us are romantic at all, but one thing I did know was that I always wanted an outdoor wedding! We opted out of renting any tents, so of course this was a gamble. We went to our ceremony site exactly a month before our wedding date and buried a bottle of Woodford Reserve (upside down, of course!), and it was pouring rain! As we drove away in our soaking clothes we looked in the rearview window and saw the most beautiful rainbow hovering over our wedding venue. The day of our wedding ended up being gorgeous, and we uncovered our buried bourbon and each took a delicious, celebratory shot! We are not sure ifthe buried bourbon tradition or prayers were to thank for the perfect weather, but we are so grateful for the most amazing day of our lives!
