Meghin and Ben’s Whimsical Wedding

From the bride: My husband and I were so excited for our September wedding. We had so many visions of what we wanted our big day to be like and it outlived every single one of them. The vision was an intimate day with a whimsical and dreamy feel. We wanted our wedding day to be unlike any day we have ever experienced, or ever will, with just the closest friends and family in our lives there. Entering the ceremony that day was my favorite part, seeing the custom built arch draped in beautiful fabric with vibrant flowers hanging all around it and Ben waiting underneath, it was the most magical moment of my life. We decided to have a wine box ceremony (because we are wine lovers) where we took a moment to place love notes we wrote to each other before the ceremony in a box that will be locked up with a fancy bottle of red wine until our 5th wedding anniversary. On our 5th wedding anniversary, we will open the box and read our letters from that day while drinking our wine to reminisce our wedding day and remind us why we fell in love with each other. After reading these letters we will keep replacing them with new letters and a bottle of wine and open this box every 5 years. We thought it was very important to put a personal touch on our wedding day, it’s a very sentimental thing that will keep us reliving our wedding day for the rest of our lives.

Wedding dress shopping was one of the most memorable moments of the whole planning experience. I went in thinking I knew what I wanted and came out with exactly the opposite. I like to say, it’s the dress I never knew I always wanted! My wedding dress was whimsy and romantic and fit perfectly with the day. Not to mention, it was super fun to twirl in! My girls wore dusty blush, each in a style that best suited them. Ben and his groomsmen opted for medium gray suites with marsala ties to make the marsala in our flowers pop. Ben and I put a lot of work into planning every little detail of our wedding. We spent countless hours wrapping our wedding favors, which were succulents in kraft paper and tying our tags that said “let love grow” along with our names and wedding date. We DIY’d almost every single sign we had with the help of our sister/sister-in-law, including our donut bar sign, remembrance table sign and guest book sign. Our florist and photographer were the top two things on our priority list. I feel like flowers change the entire aesthetics of a room, and I wanted our venue to feel like a fairy-tale. Luckily, we found the perfect florist who brought our dreams to life. Ben’s sister is a brilliant photographer who was able to capture every little detail along with hiring a second shooter to be sure there was not a moment missed since she was also the maid of honor! We were so in love with how every little emotion was captured, and adore that we can keep these perfect memories to pass down for our children to see. One of my husbands’ favorite part of the reception was of course our mini donut bar, full of color and unique flavors. We personally chose each flavor, we wanted our guests to try new things. They were for sure a favorite, with hardly any left by the end of the night. We wanted to show our fun side and add these delightful treats to the day. You can never go wrong with donuts!

My advice to brides is, do whatever makes you both happy and stay organized during the planning process, it makes things so much easier. Take a moment that night and just sit back and look around, it’s extraordinary - the love you feel in the air. Enjoy every moment and, of course, dance the night away with the ones you love most!
