Alexandra and Taylor's Classic and Swanky Wedding
From the bride: What made our wedding day stand out, both from our memory and from our guests' recount of the night, was the classy, swanky, romantic ambiance of the reception dinner, and the getaway car.
Our reception dinner featured a low-lit dinner with warm accent lighting coming up from the exterior of the room and candles on tall candle holders surrounded by large vases of flowers. We had a very intentional playlist with songs that were classic and special to us. The music through the dinner featured songs like Frank Sinatra's "It Had To Be You" and "Summer Wind", Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love With You, and Ray Charles' "Georgia". Our guests were gushing over the ambiance of the dinner and never could call the dinner anything but "classic" and "swanky."
The getaway car was a 1950's white Bentley that had the passenger seat custom cut out for a bride's dress to extend. The car picked us up from the send off and drove us to the front of the Carrick House to take pictures. After our photos, we took a ride through the historic district of Lexington before taking us to our hotel.
My favorite moment was reading my Groom's letter to me before I put my dress on. He talked about our future, our past, and a promise he made to my grandfather to always take care of me and he finally shared that with me in that letter. He's always been thoughtful and wrote me letters and sweet notes for every occasion. It didn't matter if it was an anniversary, graduation, going to college, our engagement, he's written me over the course of our relationship. The letter on our wedding day was the most intimate and now my most cherished letter of all my collection.
My husband's favorite wedding day moment, he says, was when the doors opened in the church and he saw my face through my veil, a moment that he'd been praying about and anticipating after 10 years of waiting to see his bride. In our wedding video, you can see the full emotion of the moment that he describes as "pure, unmatched joy" as he fought back tears and was smiling from ear to ear.
