Alison and Zach's Bright and Colorful Wedding

From the bride: From the moment Zach and I got engaged, I was beyond ecstatic and ready to hit the pavement on planning our perfect wedding. I had a whole vision board in my head of what I wanted for our perfect day; I mean come on, don't we all as girls? I wanted it to be a party where everyone celebrated not only the love that Zach and I have for each other, but also the love Zach and I have for all of our wonderful family and friends. So what did I do first? I let my now husband pick the colors. What did he choose, you ask? Hot pink (fuchsia to be exact), Periwinkle, Turquoise and Orange. Quite the bright color scheme but I absolutely loved it; it represented our big bold and fun personalities.

Not expecting my manly-man to be that interested in planning, I was surprised when Zach voiced another opinion in the wedding planning process. He wanted baseball to be brought into our wedding! This isn't some little boy fantasy played out, this was Zach; baseball was another love for him, second to me of course! He was drafted out of college to play for the Chicago White Sox and was in their organization for four years; so, naturally baseball has always been a big part of his life. I laughed at first when he mentioned this because baseball and weddings really don't mix; but, slowly, I started to add little touches here and there. Our guest book ended up being a big baseball, we had cookies that looked like baseballs with our wedding date in the middle and Zach's first dance with his mom was to "The Greatest" by Kenny Rogers. To top it all off, we had our bridal party walk into the wedding to "Centerfield" by John Fogerty while the DJ announced all of our couples as players on the baseball field. Zach and I walked out to "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice since that was his walkout song when he was pitching. Although it wasn't entirely conventional, it was us, and, once again, I ended up loving one of his "crazy" ideas.

On the day of our wedding, for a number of reasons, I couldn't contain my excitement. 1) I was marrying the best man ever; how could I not be happy about that? 2) He wrote his own vows, an idea that he fought me on every step of the way because he is a man and that is what they do. 3) Seeing him for the first time as I walked down the aisle. As I rounded the corner with my dad on one arm and my Papa on the other, I couldn't help but cry because I knew how lucky I was in that very moment. He cried as well... my big 6'5" husband is a big softie at heart! The ceremony was everything I could have imagined and I will never forget when he said in his vows, " I thought my dream was to play in the Big Leagues. After I met you, it was to become your husband." Right then and there I knew my life couldn't possibly be better and it is true to this day.

At the reception, we were surrounded by all of our family and friends, exactly as we had envisioned when planning our wedding over a year ago. Sure some of our group may be super loud and obnoxious, Zach and I included, but I wouldn't have it any other way. On August 11, 2018, surrounded by the people we love most on the dance floor, laughing and singing to our favorite songs, the only way I could sum it up is by saying our wedding was the best day ever!
