Deer Creek Lodge Wedding

Lauren and Samuel’s Southern Sebree Wedding

From the Bride: A simple, southern wedding is all that I ever wanted. With my husband - a quiet, country boy at heart, we wanted to create a day that captured both of our personalities. An outdoor, lakeside ceremony at a rustic hunting lodge fit the bill perfectly. We tried to keep the wedding classic and traditional while still putting our own twist on things. I kept the wedding party and reception decor completely neutral so that the nature and details would stand out. Although we kept it pretty casual, with the groomsmen wearing black and white gingham shirts, vests, jeans and a rifle shell boutonniere, the bridesmaids made it feel a little more formal with their long, black gowns. The fresh white blooms and greenery popped against the contrasting dark gowns and stood out on the arbor Samuel built for the ceremony. We kept the decor very minimal as the surrounding lake and scenery was beauty enough to take in. The ceremony concluded with us walking back down the aisle to a white flower petal toss.

I immediately fell in love with my beautiful off-the-shoulder lace wedding gown, it was comfortable with a whimsical skirt that flowed as I walked down the aisle and danced all through the reception. What made my attire complete was my "something old" rose gold, pearl bracelet from my late grandmother that she herself wore on her wedding day, and then my mother as well. We stuck to tradition and did not see each other until the wedding. We were incredibly happy with our ceremony, as it was very personal - ourpreacher discussed our relationship, but also mine and Samuel's grandfather’s friendship leading up to our fate. As they are both no longer with us, our ceremony truly paid tribute to them. I had the honor of placing the same wedding band on Samuel's hand that his grandmother placed on his grandfather's many years before.

We kept our family and loved ones in mind as we planned the reception, having a memorial table at the entrance of the lodge as well as a table full of wedding photos of our parents and grandparents. The reception area included floor to ceiling windows, with a lit deck for dancing. The rustic yet elegant theme carried through the reception with an old window I used to display the seating chart. We decorated it with flowers and eucalyptus, as well as the tables that included assorted antique glass bottles, lanterns, votive candles and vases. My sister and mother helped bring my visions to life by helping find unique ways to create the southern Kentucky wedding I had always imagined. I am extremely thankful for their guidance and all the help as we joined together and brought my dreams to life. It was the most beautiful fall wedding!
