Sweet Engagement Session

Can you feel the LOVE?

From the Bride: Tyler and I had both served in the youth groups at our churches for a while, so I would say that we became "acquaintances" through that. I always noticed him and was attracted to him, but when we first met, he wasn't available. I knew that he had a reputation of being a servant-hearted, Godly guy, so of course I was interested, but it never went further than saying hi and some small-talk. A couple of years passed, and in December of 2015, he showed up at my church on a Sunday morning again. We said hi to each other and had the usual short-lived, small-talk. I figured he was engaged or something by then. After church, I said to a friend, "I have always wished that Tyler was single!" To my surprise, she told me that he was single and had been for over a year, and I became a little giddy about it. I reached out to him that night and told him we were glad to have him at our church (trying to seem all nonchalant). He responded with asking me to have dinner with him sometime, and my heart nearly exploded!

The following week, we went on our first date, and it kind of felt like we had been on several. We talked and laughed and made some first memories together, and I remember thinking to myself, "This is gonna be a good thing". A few dates later, we became "official". In the year and 3 months of dating to follow, we fell in love with each other, we shared our victories and struggles with one another, we served with one another, we learned (and are still learning) to both receive grace and give grace to one another, we've shared adventures together and we've laughed til we cried, and we've also shared some not-so-happy tears (mostly me) and have had to work through the messiness of just being human in a relationship. God has drawn us both closer to each other and closer to Himself through it all, and I am so thankful for that. And on April 8th, 2017, he asked me to spend forever with him, and I gave a confident yes!

What we're most looking forward to in marriage: We are just looking forward to "doing life" together. In the big things and in the little things. We can't wait til the day we don't have to say "bye" to each other at the end of the day and go our separate ways. We're looking forward to taking sporadic trips together to all the places we want to see. We're looking forward to how marriage will grow us and stretch us, in a way that draws us even closer together and even closer to God. We're excited to serve our church together as husband and wife, and we're excited to see how God plans to use our marriage for His glory.
