The Bert Show Co-Host Kristin Klingshirn Announces Engagement to Longtime Boyfriend Nationally Syndicated Morning Radio Show Co-Host Shares Details of Her Surprise Engagement on the Show
Teasing listeners that one Bert Show member’s life had changed forever over the weekend, host Bert Weiss went around the studio Monday morning asking each Bert Show cast member who was responsible for the on-air excitement. As the entire show recounted the events of their weekend co-host Kristin Klingshirn completely surprised the cast and listeners with the news she and her boyfriend of nine and a half years, Bart Mattingly, were engaged. He proposed Saturday afternoon at their home in Atlanta.
“The way he proposed, it could not have been any more perfectly us…and I’m just beside myself,” Kristin says. Kristin and Bart are renovating their home and he popped the question in their unfinished master closet. He lured her in with a lie, saying he needed her approval on the hardwood floors, which happen to be made from barn wood that was salvaged from his parent's farm in Kentucky. She described the moment the proposal happened saying, “He pulled a rope to unveil a hardwood plank that had 'Will You Marry Me?' painted on it. As I turned around, he was on bended knee with a ring box in his hand. I can't remember a word he said but after staring at the ring, we embraced and I of course said yes.”
As much as Kristin wanted to tell her Bert Show family, she knew how important the element of surprise was for delivering that special moment on air. Her poker face helped keep the big announcement a secret for the first half of the show. The entire cast was floored when she broke the news on-air and pulled the stunning engagement ring from her pocket. The Bert Show cast members and listeners have embraced the big news with love and excitement.

THE COUPLE THAT GIVES BACK
One really fun unique aspect about Kristin and Bart’s engagement is that they are donating their entire wedding registry to Bert’s Big Adventure, a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Over 3,500 packages have been purchased off of their registry. Every year, Bert’s Big Adventure families are surprised with huge bins filled with toys and activities at the end of their 5 day trip to Walt Disney World that the kids can enjoy all year-round, and this year, those toys will come from Kristin and Bart’s registry.
